Among the five selected winning teams is the \u00dcber-den-Tellerrand-Caf\u00e9, a Munich-based restaurant concept. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A jury of experts once again selected the best gastronomic start-up concepts this year. The submitted concepts were evaluated for innovation and unique selling points at each location. The prospects for economic viability and the founders&#039; persuasiveness were also taken into account in the jury&#039;s assessment. Five gastronomic concepts ultimately made it onto the winners&#039; podium, including <a href=\"https:\/\/ueberdentellerrand.cafe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Think Outside the Box Caf\u00e9<\/a> from Munich.<\/p>\n<h3>Not \u201cjust\u201d a caf\u00e9, but an integration project<\/h3>\n<p>What&#039;s special about this Munich caf\u00e9 is that it&#039;s not &quot;just&quot; a caf\u00e9, but rather an integration project. The caf\u00e9 sees itself as a social enterprise and meeting place where people with and without refugee experience can cook together, and guests and staff can learn from each other. Events such as shared game nights and language caf\u00e9s are intended to help establish the &quot;\u00dcber den Tellerrand&quot; caf\u00e9 as a meeting place. Founders Jasmin Seipp and Julia Haarig were able to convince the jury of their idea with their personal commitment.<\/p>\n<h3>And what happens next?<\/h3>\n<p>The winning teams will present their gastronomy concepts to a large audience at the finals of the German Gastronomy Founders&#039; Award on March 15th. Tim M\u00e4lzer will host the founders&#039; pitches. The expert audience can choose the winner via live voting. The prizes include \u20ac10,000 in seed capital, 40 hours of consulting from the Leaders Club Germany, participation in Europe&#039;s largest congress for professional gastronomy, the International Foodservice Forum at Internorga, and a four-day trip to New York.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gastro-gruenderpreis.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Further information<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2019 Restaurant Startup Award has been presented.
