The focus was on early-stage investments.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u20ac42.7 million of the invested capital came from venture capital firms, public investors, and strategic investors. Private investors contributed \u20ac20 million and are involved in three-quarters of the deals. The investor network includes approximately 300 private and over 100 institutional investors. In the 2018 fiscal year, the investor network acquired approximately 40 new business angels.<\/p>\n<p>Successfully funded startups include companies such as <a href=\"\/en\/44390\/portrait-inveox-pathology\/\">Inveox<\/a>, <a href=\"\/en\/40422\/all3dp-financing-round\/\">All3dp<\/a>, <a href=\"\/en\/42662\/hofmann-and-stirner-seed-capital\/\">Hofmann &amp; Stirner<\/a> and <a href=\"\/en\/ecosystem\/lets-yalla\/\">Let&#039;s Yalla<\/a>The focus of the deals brokered by Baystartup is on the early stage: 44 of the funded teams (88 percent) are less than three years old. 26 percent of the financing rounds are in the pre-seed phase, 52 percent in the seed phase, and 22 percent in the Series A phase. Business angels were involved in 74 percent of the deals.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis shows that business angels are an integral part of early-stage financing and that the importance of angel capital has continued to grow over the years,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>says <strong>Carsten Rudolph<\/strong>, Managing Director of Baystartup.<\/p>\n<h3>Aiwanger: \u201cWe will continue to maintain our activities in the startup sector at a high level in the future.\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>Overall, the financing rounds ranged between \u20ac50,000 and \u20ac6,000,000. The largest investment by a business angel was just under \u20ac2 million.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe topic is attracting increasing interest, particularly among German SMEs,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>said Rudolph. The network is supported by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&quot;We will continue to maintain a high level of our activities in the startup sector in the future. Programs supported by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, such as those offered by Baystartup, make a significant contribution to ensuring that young, innovative companies, especially in the Bavarian regions, have access to capital and expert knowledge,&quot;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>says Bavaria&#039;s Minister of Economic Affairs<strong> Hubert Aiwanger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis is an important prerequisite for them to be able to successfully establish their business models on the market.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The companies supported by Baystartup currently employ over 13,100 people and generated sales of almost 1.4 billion euros in 2017. Successful Munich-based companies such as <a href=\"\/en\/success\/flixbus\/\">Flixbus<\/a>, <a href=\"\/en\/success\/egym\/\">Egym<\/a>, <a href=\"\/en\/success\/magazino-with-logistics-robots-to-success\/\">Magazine<\/a>, and\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"\/en\/success\/voxeljet-from-university-to-nyse\/\">Voxeljet<\/a> were supported by Baystartup.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year, over \u20ac62 million flowed into startups in 50 financing rounds via Baystartup&#039;s investor network.
