Make Munich 2019 will be exciting\u2014and perhaps different. Firstly, the event is expanding to include a second exhibition hall, where makers will be able to network with small and medium-sized businesses. Secondly, the Munich University of Applied Sciences (HM) and the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship (SCE) are joining as the maker event's first university partners.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Make Munich is Southern Germany's largest maker and DIY festival. The event will take place for the fifth time in early March 2019. A new development is that HM and SCE have signed up as the first academic partners of Make Munich 2019. After all, the motto "Producing knowledge and innovation through making" fits the university very well. With "From Making to Founding," HM and SCE offer makers the opportunity to professionalize the commercialization of their innovations. Martin Laarmann<\/strong>, co-organizer of Make Munich on the cooperation:<\/p>\n

\u201cOne [\u2026] goal of the partnership is to demonstrate, using good examples, how makers can professionalize themselves: How does a fixed idea become a prototype and how does it perhaps even become a successful company?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Also Klaus Sailer<\/a>, Managing Director of the SCE, relies on the fruitful exchange between both cultures:<\/p>\n

"It's inspiring for our students and startups to experience the creative minds and their ideas at Make Munich. We, in turn, want to actively contribute to identifying synergies between projects and promoting their entrepreneurial continuation beyond the event."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Maker meets SMEs<\/h3>\n

In addition to the academic side, 2019 will also be about connecting makers with SMEs. Thanks to Allnet, one of Make Munich's long-standing partners, a dedicated area will be created in the Kohlebunkerhalle on the first day of the fair to bring the maker scene together with established SMEs.<\/p>\n

At the same time, one of Make Munich's goals is to make high-tech accessible to a broad audience. Therefore, the maker scene will be experienced in all its diversity at the exhibition booths and in many inspiring presentations. However, it's not just about watching; it's also about making things yourself and trying them out. Numerous hands-on workshops encourage visitors to be creative and inventive, and to make things themselves using modern technologies.<\/p>\n
