The Munich high-tech startup Kumovis<\/a> BayStartUP wins the finals of the 2018 Munich Business Plan Competition. The team develops 3D printers specifically tailored to medical technology requirements and capable of producing, for example, cranial plate or spinal implants. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The awards ceremony for the final phase 3 of the Munich Business Plan Competition took place in a festive setting. BayStartUP<\/a> The competition took place in the Hubertussaal at Nymphenburg Palace. Prizes totaling \u20ac30,000 were awarded. 94 startups from across southern Bavaria had previously submitted their business plans. This is the best result for the Munich Business Plan Competition in the past 10 years.<\/p>\n

Innovative ideas, great talent and a lot of courage<\/h3>\n

Also Dr. Carsten Rudolph<\/strong>, Managing Director of BayStartUP, was pleased:<\/p>\n

"Last year once again demonstrated how broad the startup scene in Bavaria is. The jury examined and evaluated a wide variety of topics. Tech in Bavaria means hardware, software, AI, with many synergies for successful developments. The finalists in this year's Munich Business Plan Competition once again impressively demonstrate this."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ministerial Director Dr. Bernhard Schwab<\/strong>, Head of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Technology, said:<\/p>\n

"The Munich Business Plan Competition is a springboard for startups. Numerous former participants have since established themselves as strong companies in the market. It's clear every year: an institution like BayStartUP, with its business plan competitions, coaching sessions, and Germany's largest financing network, is a worthwhile investment in Bavaria's economic future."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And Hans Peter G\u00f6ttler<\/strong>, member of the Board of LfA F\u00f6rderbank Bayern, a long-standing sponsor of the competition, added:<\/p>\n

"The winners of this year's Munich Business Plan Competition impressively demonstrate that Bavarian founders have innovative ideas, great talent, and a lot of courage. And this is paying off, as many startups from past competitions are now successful entrepreneurs. Of course, this requires the right financing. The LfA supports entrepreneurial courage with attractive start-up loans, risk-taking, and venture capital."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The winners: Kumovis, Volabo & Plasmion<\/h3>\n

Alongside Kumovis, Volabo also made it to the podium in second place. The startup is developing an electric drive that operates on just 48 volts instead of a conventional 400-volt battery voltage, thus offering greater safety than previous solutions and also being more efficient.<\/p>\n

Plasmion takes third place. The company transforms laboratory equipment into an "electronic nose." For the first time, laboratories can now measure samples directly without complex sample preparation. The devices themselves can be used automatically as odor sensors, for example, in the security industry.<\/p>\n
