LinkedIn evaluated the digital professional and application skills of its members.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to a recent study by the City of Munich, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, and the LinkedIn network, almost a third (31 percent) of the more than 660,000 LinkedIn members in the greater Munich area possess digital technical and application skills. LinkedIn can also draw conclusions about labor market dynamics and trends through member analytics. This evaluation of the &quot;digital map of the labor market&quot; is the first project of its kind in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>The study anonymously analyzed members who listed, for example, &#039;programming&#039; or &#039;social media skills&#039; as skills in their profile. Those with these skills are, on average, four times more in demand than those without. There is a clear need to catch up in terms of gender distribution: Women still make up a significantly smaller proportion of those offering digital skills.<\/p>\n<h3>The main results of the study<\/h3>\n<p>Overall, 31 percent of LinkedIn members in Munich and the surrounding area have digital expertise or application skills. The seven DAX-listed companies located there have an above-average number of employees with these skills (39 percent).<br \/>\nIn the last twelve months, we have been looking for people with knowledge in machine learning, programming or the development of user interfaces.<\/p>\n<p>The Munich region is successfully attracting digital expertise from other major cities. Compared to other cities such as Hamburg or Frankfurt, for example, Munich is experiencing a positive net migration balance in terms of digital expertise.<\/p>\n<p>And, not surprisingly, digitalization is permeating the local economic structure in many areas. Digital skills are particularly evident in the information and communication sectors (e.g., IT, software, telecommunications, media) and in the manufacturing sector, which includes automotive and manufacturing.<\/p>\n<h3>Mayor Schmid: \u201cHotspot for all questions of digitalization\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>The Head of the Department of Labor and Economic Affairs, Mayor <strong>Joseph Schmid<\/strong>, in addition:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&quot;The Munich region is a significant hotspot for all aspects of digitalization. The digital impulses of the traditionally strong information and communications sector have been consistently embraced, internalized, and implemented by Munich&#039;s economy into innovative products and business areas: All important economic sectors in Munich are very well positioned with regard to digital requirements.&quot;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Peter Driessen<\/strong>, Managing Director of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&quot;The fact that specialist skills such as machine learning, cutting-edge programming languages, and data mining are particularly in demand in Munich is a testament to the high level of digitalization of local companies.
