The successful format \u201cStartup meets Crafts\u201d is entering its third round: On 28 June 2018, Munich Startup invites you together with the Chamber of Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria (HWK)<\/a> We once again invite everyone interested to get to know exciting startups and innovative artisans. And, of course, to sample creative delicacies from selected local food artisans. <\/strong><\/p>\n

At first glance, the startup scene and the skilled trades may not seem to have much in common. However, upon closer inspection, one can discover synergies and overlaps that continually bring the two sides together. This was confirmed in practice by the two successful and very well-attended events from \u201cStartup meets craftsmanship\u201d<\/a> of the past two years. A varied program and creative treats will ensure that this year's event builds on these successes. The event will take place on June 28, 2018, starting at 6:00 PM, at the Munich Chamber of Crafts and is open to all interested parties. Participation is free of charge; only binding registration is requested.<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cStartup meets craftsmanship\u201d \u2014 what\u2019s behind it?
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The "Startup Meets Crafts" event consists of two parts: In the first part, selected startups and craftspeople will present their projects in short sessions and answer questions from the audience. In the subsequent second part, all participants can exchange ideas, explore questions in more detail, and sample creative regional delicacies.<\/p>\n

What topics are covered?<\/h3>\n

The evening's thematic diversity is impressive: in addition to innovations from the skilled trades and innovative technologies from the startup sector, digital services will also be presented. A brief overview:<\/p>\n

The construction industry is one of the least digitized industries in Germany, alongside the hunting and fishing sectors. Innovative approaches from young Munich-based startups such as PAVE<\/a>, staff board<\/a> or Bilendo<\/a> are intended to change this and put an end to the paperwork in construction, automate human resources and get customers to pay outstanding invoices more quickly.<\/p>\n

But not only digital solutions will be presented this evening, but also exciting, innovative technologies: the startup Kewazo<\/a> presents its scaffolding robot, which makes scaffolding assembly 40 percent faster than previous solutions. And Mecuris<\/a> shows how prostheses and orthoses can be manufactured quickly and cost-effectively using the latest 3D technologies.<\/p>\n

VR also finds its way into the craft industry: The Munich startup craft guide<\/a> has set itself the task of developing virtual reality machine courses for trainees. The idea behind it: This allows trainees to safely test manufacturing processes before coming into contact with the actual machines.<\/p>\n

Innovative approaches from the craft sector also find their way onto the stage. Skew<\/a> a flexible shelf that can be adapted to any sloping roof. A solution for which carpenter Philipp Hiller was already awarded the Bavarian State Prize in 2018.<\/p>\n

No problem: hunger & thirst<\/h3>\n

An interesting mix of innovation and tradition is also presented by the invited food artisans: the Hofbr\u00e4uhaus Kunstm\u00fchle<\/a> has existed for several hundred years in the heart of Munich, still producing flour in the traditional way and yet scoring points with new concepts. Two Bavarian breweries also demonstrate how much new things can be made with the four basic ingredients: hops, malt, yeast, and water. Perhaps a sip of beer or two will also help overcome the fear of insect snacks from Wicked Cricket<\/a> to overcome. The Munich startup has turned to insects in its search for an alternative protein source and set up an insect factory in Munich. Of course, the same applies here: "You can try it."<\/p>\n
