Want to write series, but not the way it's always been done? And you've come up with an idea right away? Then apply now for "web: first \u2013 webseries lab." They're looking for innovative ideas for web series in the fields of culture, science, and entertainment. "web: first \u2013 webseries lab" is an initiative of four leading Bavarian media institutions: Bayerischer Rundfunk, the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, First Movie Plus of the Bavarian Film Center, and the non-profit media network Transmedia Bayern e. V.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On platforms like Vimeo, YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat, it's prime time 24 hours a day. Web series like "High Maintenance," "SKAM," or, in Germany, "Wishlist" and "Das Institut" particularly reach young audiences there. But broadcasters like Channel 4, YLE, NRK, and the BBC also offer fictional and documentary web series specifically tailored to digital audiences. The market is also developing in Germany, as demonstrated by the introduction of funding specifically for web video content by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern.<\/p>\n

The "web: first \u2013 webseries lab" supports the development of web series. Creatives from all media sectors can present their ideas up to the June 29, 2018<\/strong> apply for one of six project places. Six additional places are reserved for participants without a project. The \u201cwebseries lab\u201d will take place from 8-9 October 2018 and from 6-8 November 2018, both full-day in Munich<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Goal: Strengthening Munich as a media location<\/h3>\n

The "webseries lab" serves not only to develop projects but also to impart knowledge. By choosing Munich as the venue, the aim is to specifically promote Bavaria as a media hub and foster cross-industry networking among media professionals and young talent from the region. A masterclass with a renowned European expert will also provide participants with an international perspective. The lab concludes with a pitch to selected industry representatives at the series camp at the HFF Munich on November 9, 2018.<\/p>\n

Who can apply?<\/h3>\n

Authors, filmmakers, and other media professionals\u2014including those from the startup sector\u2014with sufficient prior training are invited. Six participants with projects and six without projects will be admitted. A special focus is placed on media professionals from Bavaria. Three to four additional places are reserved for young talent.
