Electrochaea, one of the world's leading power-to-gas companies, was awarded the STEP Award in the sustainability category on November 27 for its technology for the biological conversion of surplus energy and CO2 into transportable and storable methane.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The prize, which is being awarded by the FAZ publishing house for the twelfth time, is aimed at innovative, promising companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. already the third award<\/a>, which the cleantech startup from Planegg will receive this year.<\/p>\n

The biological methanation method developed by Electrochaea is a key sector-coupling technology for the sensible use of CO2 and the storage of excess electricity from renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, as gas.
