Developed from the WERK1 KigaClick<\/a> An app that digitizes daycare centers and kindergartens\u2014with significant benefits for the facilities, educators, and parents. We wanted to learn more about the project and asked KigaClick our 7 questions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Who are you and what do you do? Please briefly introduce yourself and your services!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hello and thank you for your interest. First of all, we would like to briefly explain who we are. Isabel has a degree in business administration, Derk is an engineer, and I, Florian, am a social worker. However, it is much more important for our company that we are all working parents with children in daycare centers. This brings us directly to our startup. I myself have worked in various positions in daycare centers in Munich and met Isabel and Derk through a few connections. The idea for the app arose from our collective desire to find out more about what our children experience in daycare. A few surveys revealed that for many parents, the daily routine at daycare is a black box. Many facilities offer yoga, for example. But what does yoga actually look like for children under 3? Or how do the educators manage to eat peacefully around the table with 25 children? It quickly became clear, however, that parents' desire for information could not be met as long as educators had to work the way they currently do, namely with paper, pen, and Post-it notes. With KigaClick we solve this dilemma: KigaClick makes it easier for educators to organize their group and promotes communication between parents and educators.<\/p>\n

Perhaps a brief explanation is needed for all those without children and who now have the image of helicopter parents in their heads: Kindergarten as we remember it is a thing of the past. Of course, educators then, as now, want children to have a good time, which is demanding enough. Especially in urban areas, younger and younger children are attending daycare, and they stay there longer than they did 1-2 generations ago. Children who spend 7-9 hours a day in daycare or kindergarten are no longer uncommon. There are various reasons for this, above all, both parents are increasingly required to contribute to the family income. For educators, this means they have much more responsibility and take on a large part of the parenting work. For example, table manners, behavior in traffic \u2013 children today are increasingly taught all of these things by educators rather than (exclusively) by their parents. And because educators spend so much time with children, they are expected to notice developmental deficits early on. To comply, more and more information is being documented, legal requirements are becoming increasingly extensive, and parents who spend 7-9 hours with their child in daycare understandably want to know more than just what they had for lunch. The acute shortage of skilled workers makes it impossible for educators to take the time they need to bring administrative and pedagogical skills into line.<\/p>\n

In a nutshell: Too few educators are being asked to complete more tasks in less time, using outdated tools. A formula that can't work much longer.<\/p>\n

2. But that's been around for a long time!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not at all. The educators' organizational work within the groups is still done with pen and paper, just as it was 30 years ago. Various lists, folders, and post-it notes enrich the educators' daily routine.<\/p>\n

Some schools now rely on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Dropbox for parent communication. Aside from the fact that this poses at least some data protection concerns, it also places additional burdens on educators.<\/p>\n

KigaClick solves this problem. Educators are provided with a quick and easy solution for their administrative tasks, while also informing parents about the day's highlights. Without any detours\u2014without any extra effort\u2014in real time.<\/p>\n
