When craftsmanship meets startup, two sides come together that may not seem to fit together at first glance. But at second glance, they certainly do: Craft businesses are also constantly working on innovative and customized solutions. And many startups consider craft businesses to be exciting target groups. But that's not all: startups are also founded within the craft sector. All these facets \u2013 and more \u2013 will be explored at the networking event "Startup meets Craft" on July 11, 2017. The event, which was already very successful last winter<\/a>, is jointly organized by the Chamber of Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria (HWK) and Munich Startup. A total of 10 startups will present themselves on stage, and several innovative entrepreneurs from the food industry will be presenting at the subsequent summer networking event.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Who does what? \u2013 These startups present themselves<\/h3>\n

How can 3D data glasses be used in the trades? How can excess inventory be turned into cash? And how can software be learned more easily and quickly? \u2013 These are just a few of the questions that will be addressed at the networking event "Crafts Meets Startup." These startups, which will present themselves in short presentations during the event, will provide suitable answers:<\/p>\n

Hinterher.com<\/a>When an architect and carpenter is tired of using a delivery van for jobs in the city, they come up with an idea. At least, that's what Peter Hornung-Sohner did, developing Hinterher.com, a multifunctional bike trailer. Versatile and made in Munich.<\/p>\n

Materialrest24.de<\/a>: Also a result of dissatisfaction: the online platform Materialrest24.de. The problem: Too much unused building material is stored at too many companies. Founder and roofer Simon Schl\u00f6gl wants to distribute this dead material via his platform. Incidentally, the focus is not only on monetization, but also on the sustainable use of existing resources.<\/p>\n

Social Bee<\/a>: The best integration always works through participation. That's why Social Bee has set itself the task of being Germany's first integration service provider to help refugees enter the world of work, including an integration program.<\/p>\n

Staffchum<\/a>What to do when there are excess capacity and capacity bottlenecks? Exactly, bringing both sides together. This is where the online platform Staffchum comes in: Unused personnel resources are placed where they are needed for temporary employment.<\/p>\n

User lane<\/a>Lost in a new software \u2013 who hasn't experienced that? To change that in the future, the Munich-based startup Userlane has developed a navigation system for software programs: Interactive step-by-step instructions are designed to enable users to immediately operate a software at a high level without prior knowledge or to quickly navigate a website.<\/p>\n

Vendl<\/a>The Munich-based startup Vendl has developed a truly world-first: the wheat beer-to-go bottle that can be converted into a wheat beer glass. It's ideal for anyone who doesn't want to drink their wheat beer from a bottle after a mountain hike, for example. A head of foam is also guaranteed...<\/p>\n

Wearable Solutions<\/a>: Sensors on workwear are playing an increasingly important role in the world of Work 4.0. The makers of Wearable Solutions, which combine textiles with modern technology, know how textile sensors can be used effectively.<\/p>\n

You Mawo<\/a>: Every person is unique \u2013 and You Mawo aims to cater to this individuality when manufacturing eyewear. The startup scans the face shape and uses additive manufacturing technology and selective laser sintering to create the perfect frames.<\/p>\n

NearBees<\/a>Environmental protection, sustainability, local and conscious consumption, and a consistent marketing concept \u2013 all of which are key to the Munich-based startup nearBees' success. As the name suggests, it's all about bees, and therefore honey. It's delivered by the local beekeeper next door \u2013 directly to your mailbox.<\/p>\n

In addition to the startups, two ideas from the research area will also be presented: First, the TUM Chair of Information Systems, which is researching the potential applications of augmented reality in SMEs. Specifically, the chair is investigating how 3D glasses can be used during various work processes. These glasses can also be tested during the networking event.<\/p>\n

Also on site: Prof. Dr. Dieter Haller from the Munich University of Applied Sciences, who is currently working on a solution for transporting people and loads up and down stairs without a lift. Since many tradespeople are constantly involved in transporting heavy loads and this development is still in its early stages, Prof. Dr. Haller is seeking dialogue and potential applications.<\/p>\n

Networking with innovative delicacies<\/h3>\n

After this official part, networking is on the agenda, providing ample opportunity for detailed questions. We hope for good weather so that it can take place in the courtyard of the Chamber of Crafts. One thing is already certain: no one will go home hungry. The food industry companies that will be presenting themselves in the second part of the evening will ensure that. And the best way to do this, of course, is to offer their products for tasting. With this in mind, participants can look forward to, among other things, "brine bread" and "brine bacon" from the Baker Brothers<\/strong> and the Ehler Butcher Shop<\/strong> \u2013 both from Bischofswiesen, by the way \u2013 are looking forward to it. There will also be \u201cWei\u00dfwurstburger\u201d and the \u201cHackgranate\u201d, a beer specially developed for grilling by Butcher's Hack<\/strong> from Freising. Presenting beer varieties Isarkindl<\/strong> from Munich and Lamplbr\u00e4u<\/strong> from Wolnzach, the heart of the Hallertau region. Sweet treats can be enjoyed at the Chocolaterie Amelie<\/strong> and from NearBees<\/strong> test.<\/p>\n
