Although the most successful films and series still come from the USA, the analysis of the most popular films and series from linear TV and streaming (video on demand) is carried out by the Munich-based startup Concon International with its proprietary application Watchnow.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of Munich Web Week, the Munich-based startup Concon International presented the results of its analysis of German users' TV and streaming behavior to an international audience. The study incorporated data from a sample of just over 1,000 active users aged 18 and over of the company's proprietary application Watchnow Streaming & TV Guide.<\/p>\n

Watchnow Streaming & TV Guide interactively lists media content from linear TV and streaming, features a gamified user interface with a search function, and a self-learning recommendation engine. This is designed to make it easier for users to plan their next movie night or keep track of upcoming series releases. For example, if they select the "Trending" filter sorting function, they can see which films are currently "in."<\/p>\n

Timm Stemann<\/strong>, CEO Concon International, says:<\/p>\n

"With our Watchnow Streaming & TV Guide app, we want to inspire users. We show them which films, documentaries, and series are currently 'in' and what best suits their tastes. All they have to do is sit back on the couch and enjoy their favorite movie."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So what is \u201cin\u201d now?<\/h3>\n

Here are the results in brief: The best films and series come almost exclusively (90 percent) from the USA, followed by Germany and France. Around 30 percent of the top-rated content belongs to the crime genre, with crime series accounting for the largest share. Sitcoms come in second with a share of around 17 percent, closely followed by comedy series with just under 16 percent.<\/p>\n

Although series predominate in the top group, the overall share of films and series is balanced at 50 percent to 50 percent. The USA also leads in terms of trendsetting. At 77 percent, the gap to Germany (second place) and France is not quite as significant. However, two-thirds of the hottest content in these countries comes from series. Of this, a good 40 percent is in the crime genre, followed by sitcoms (22%) and documentaries (12%).<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
