The BayBG Bavarian Investment Company<\/a> invests 4.5 million euros in Resysta International GmbH<\/a> from Taufkirchen near Munich. Founded in 2010, the company develops and markets a sustainable wood substitute.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Resysta is said to resemble tropical wood in its visual and tactile properties. At the same time, the wood-free mixture of rice husks, rock salt, and mineral oil is, according to the manufacturer, completely waterproof and therefore more durable than real wood. This wood substitute can thus help slow the destruction of tropical rainforests. Bernd Duna, managing director and company founder, says the material developed by his company is characterized by<\/p>\n

"It's even more durable than natural wood and is easy to process. Resysta is increasingly being used where weather-resistant wood was originally required, for example, in outdoor furniture, flooring, or house facades."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Certified tropical timber is a scarce and sought-after resource. As its price rises, so does the demand for substitutes.
