Autonomous driving, big data and connectivity, electromobility and Industry 4.0: these are the topics that the Technical University of Munich<\/a> in the future together with the DR\u00c4XLMAIER Group<\/a> From 2017, around 75 of the company's engineers, physicists, designers, and technicians will be working on key future issues facing the automotive industry in approximately 1,000 square meters of office and laboratory space in the "Neue Mitte GALILEO" on the Garching campus.<\/strong><\/p>\n

TUM President Wolfgang A. Herrmann<\/strong> is convinced that both sides will benefit from the cooperation:<\/p>\n

"In the cooperation between an excellent university and an excellent, innovative company like the DR\u00c4XLMAIER Group, research and practice complement each other perfectly. We are more than pleased that the international high-tech company is headquartered in Vilsbiburg, Bavaria."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At its new location, DR\u00c4XLMAIER deliberately focuses on a campus atmosphere and supports the creative work of its employees.\u00a0 Dr. Martin Gall<\/strong>, Chief Technology Officer at DR\u00c4XLMAIER, knows what he is talking about as a TUM alumnus:<\/p>\n

"It's important to us to give employees the freedom to develop ideas and work independently. The GALILEO location will help us attract and develop new talent."<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Industry on Campus<\/b><\/h3>\n

With DR\u00c4XLMAIER, TUM is placing an important emphasis on its strategic concept \u201cIndustry on Campus\u201d<\/strong>A good example of its success is the research program with General Electric<\/strong>Twelve years ago, the global corporation decided to establish its European research center on the Garching campus, in close proximity to TUM. Based on a framework agreement, the partners conduct research in the fields of energy, mobility, and health.<\/p>\n

The Siemens AG<\/strong> is also planning a new research location on campus. Up to 300 of the company's researchers will work side by side with TUM scientists. The main areas of cooperation are robotics\/autonomous systems and IT security. The research building is to be built directly adjacent to the new building of the TUM Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.<\/p>\n

The networking of companies and scientists in the field of digitalization is also taken care of by the \u201cZentrum Digitalisierung.Bayern\u201d<\/a><\/strong> (ZD.B) of the Bavarian State Government, which is based on the research campus and coordinates Bavaria-wide activities in this future sector of science and industry.<\/p>\n

Already, well over 15,000 TUM students are studying at the Garching campus, making it the university's largest contiguous campus. The "Neue Mitte GALILEO" (New Center GALILEO) will be completed by the end of 2017 and will include an auditorium, a campus hotel, shopping and restaurant areas, office space, and an underground parking garage.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
