Quantum Systems, an expert in AI-supported unmanned systems and Munich Unicorn<\/a>, the startup takes over Fernride<\/a>With this step, the company is strategically expanding its existing portfolio of air and software intelligence and adding autonomous ground mobility. Defencetech is thus creating a networked, cross-domain offering for intelligent unmanned systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fernride develops a software platform for ground-based automation, addressing application areas such as container terminals, yard operations, and autonomous driving. In 2025, Fernride became the first company in Europe to achieve T\u00dcV certification for autonomous trucks. The startup recently expanded its portfolio to include... Defence Logistics division<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interconnected systems from the air and on the ground<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Quantum Systems is contributing operational experience from Ukraine to the integration. These missions demonstrated the importance of the interplay between air and ground robotics. The company is integrating Fernride's solutions into its own mission software, Mosaic UXS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The German Armed Forces rely on Quantum Systems<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Parallel to the acquisition, Quantum Systems wins a key tender from the German Armed Forces. The Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAIINBw<\/a>The Bundeswehr and Defencetech have signed a contract for the procurement of up to 747 reconnaissance drones. The Twister system succeeds the previous Aladin reconnaissance system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under a firm order, Quantum Systems will initially deliver 147 systems, including services. The framework agreement includes an option for up to 600 additional systems. The startup commits to delivering at least 250 systems per year and increasing capacity as needed. The electrically powered Twister SUAS (Small Unmanned Aircraft System) is intended to support the army, navy, and air force in tactical reconnaissance missions.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
