The Munich startup Ecog<\/a> has closed a \u20ac16 million Series B funding round. This round was led by Munich-based impact investor Get Fund. Other participants include Extantia, Bayern Kapital, BayBG, the Lindner Group, Helen Ventures, and Ananda Impact Ventures. The company plans to use the funding to further develop its operating system for fast-charging infrastructure, roll it out internationally, and establish a new test and development center in Bavaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Standardize fragmented solutions via plug & play <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ecog is developing a standardized operating system for electric vehicle charging stations. It allows for the flexible combination of different hardware components and the easy integration of various software solutions. This modularity reduces costs, shortens development times, and ensures greater operational reliability. The goal is the comprehensive standardization of charging infrastructure to facilitate the easy scaling of e-mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The need is great: While public charging infrastructure is growing at a double-digit rate, many systems are still developed using proprietary technology. This leads to long time-to-market and high operating costs. Ecog aims to overcome this fragmentation with its open platform approach, thereby accelerating the global expansion of fast-charging infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J\u00f6rg Heuer<\/strong>, CEO at Ecog, explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"The early years of e-mobility have now been successfully completed. Now the focus is on professionalization and sustainable growth. One example of this is the use of electric trucks in urban logistics \u2013 this is no longer a future topic, but increasingly a genuine business foundation."<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Ecog's customers include Siemens, ABB, Valeo, and Dover Fueling Solutions, the largest supplier of service station equipment in the USA. Ecog's technology is already deployed in more than 25,000 systems worldwide and contributes to the standardization of charging infrastructure in Europe, India, and the USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Test center for fast charging technologies in Bavaria <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As part of its expansion, Ecog plans to establish a test and development center in Bavaria. There, the company intends to test new fast-charging technologies under real-world conditions together with industry and logistics partners \u2013 such as megawatt charging for electric trucks or bidirectional charging in fleets. The site will also serve as an innovation hub for research and application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger<\/strong> highlights: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

"The expansion of charging infrastructure can be faster, simpler and more cost-effective if the individual components are standardized. Ecog provides a basis for this standardization with its operating systems and at the same time creates future-proof jobs in the Free State."<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Also Monika Steger<\/strong>, Managing Director of Bayern Kapital, emphasizes the importance of the commitment: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

"For manufacturers and operators of charging stations, Ecog's approach offers faster, simpler and more cost-effective processes \u2013 a clear competitive advantage in a market that is currently becoming more professional."<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

With the support of a broad consortium of cleantech and growth investors, Ecog is strengthening its position as a technology supplier in the international fast-charging market. The company is thus combining economic growth with a clear contribution to the energy transition and sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
