The responsibility lies with all players in the ecosystem<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Women continue to be significantly underrepresented in the field of business angel investing. Studies show that only about 10 to 15 percent of business angels in Germany are female. More and more programs are emerging that specifically aim to close this gap. Among other things, the initiative Women Angels Mission \u201a<\/a>25<\/a> The aim is to attract more women to angel investing by networking female investors, increasing their visibility and offering concrete support when getting started. The FIN Academy of the Female Investors Network also offers workshops, pitch training, and access to relevant events.<\/a> With its Women Angels Mission '25 initiative, Business Angels Germany (BAND) aims to make the business angels ecosystem more diverse by increasing visibility and mobilizing female investors, while also encouraging female founders to successfully implement their business ideas.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Svenja Lassen<\/strong>, founder of the Female Investors Network and head of the FIN Academy<\/a>, sees the responsibility with all actors in the ecosystem:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"We need to be aware that we all benefit from more perspectives and diversity in the startup ecosystem, and that we can only increase the proportion of women together. For example, by every stakeholder, employer, and event organizer questioning whether there are enough women on the team or at events, and by specifically addressing and involving them in the content. Or by investors and angel investors, as well as founders from Munich, bringing their partners, friends, sisters, or colleagues to events such as festivals, demo days, or pitch events and specifically asking women for their opinion on a startup or business idea in order to inspire them for the topic, but above all, to reach better decisions together."<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The FIN Academy offers a low-threshold entry: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

"We provide online training for women who are interested in learning the basics of startup investing and want to become business angels. They don't need any prior knowledge. After six weeks, they not only have the necessary knowledge, but also the community to get started with investments together." Even if the proportion of women won't reach the target of 25 percent by the end of the year, an increase to 30 percent of female investors by 2030 is feasible."<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

More than 200 women have already completed the program, and the next round starts in October. Interested parties can register for the FIN Academy here and start on October 6, 2025.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you get started with angel investing?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Anyone who wants to start angel investing in Munich will find an active network and numerous contact points. Baystartup <\/a>regularly organizes matching events that bring investors and startups together. Werk1 in the east of Munich and the InsurTech Hub Munich also offer programs where founders and investors can engage in dialogue. In addition, there are events such as the Munich Startup Demo Nights or the Munich Startup Festival<\/a>that are suitable for initial contacts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone who wants to get started with the topic from scratch can, for example, acquire specific know-how through the FIN Academy and exchange ideas in a community of investors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

"If you're interested, the best thing to do is follow the various players in Munich on LinkedIn, find out about their events, and then just go along. The scene is generally very open; our members and I welcome any exchange and are happy to share knowledge and contacts. Don't be shy, just get started!"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This gives newcomers in Munich the opportunity to build both knowledge and networks. These are the two key building blocks for a successful start as a (female) business angel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More visibility, more impact for business angels<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In addition to capital, visibility is crucial. Female investors who participate in panels, at award ceremonies, or in the media not only raise their own profile but also act as role models. Thus, they help more women see angel investing as an option.
