Munich Startup: <\/em>What motivated you to start the company?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emilia von Keyserlingk:<\/em> To be honest, I was exhausted. As a management consultant, I was constantly on the go, my calendar was full, and my back was aching\u2014literally. I had no time for exercise, even though I knew how important exercise was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then EMS training came into my life. A 20-minute session a week, nothing more, and suddenly my back pain disappeared. I was fitter, more upright, more energetic. The only problem was: EMS was only available in studios, expensive, with cables, a spray bottle, and a lot of effort. And then I thought: Why isn't there an easier way? Why isn't there a comfortable EMS suit for at home with guided training via an app? This question was the start of Pepper<\/a>I wanted a solution that really works, but is simple enough that anyone can use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digression: What exactly is EMS and how does it help build muscle?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

EMS stands for electrical muscle stimulation. It sounds technical, but in principle it's quite simple: gentle impulses activate the muscles. This happens with any normal movement, too; we just amplify it. And we do it in a targeted way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You put on the suit, launch the app, and train almost your entire body in just 20 minutes. It feels a bit like an intense workout with gentle vibration \u2013 and it's incredibly effective. EMS can make muscle building up to 300 percent more effective than traditional training. And because it's gentle on the joints, it's also ideal for people with back problems or little training experience. Munich Startup: <\/em>What would you have liked to have known before starting your first business?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emilia von Keyserlingk:<\/em> How intense the highs and lows feel. I knew starting a business was a roller coaster, but I had underestimated how personal it would be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My biggest lesson: Talk to other founders. Almost every problem has been experienced by someone before, and sometimes a short conversation is enough to gain new clarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup: <\/em>How has your company been financed so far? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emilia von Keyserlingk:<\/em> Pepper is funded by business angels, not just with capital, but above all with knowledge. As a first-time founder, this was invaluable to me. I was able to learn from their experiences, especially in the areas of product development, sales, and international scaling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup: <\/em>When and where do you get the best ideas?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emilia von Keyserlingk:<\/em> While taking a walk. Without a cell phone. Without music. Without distractions. Being outside, thinking, breathing. That often gives me the best inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
