The Munich-based company Roadsurfer has received financing totaling \u20ac85 million. The funds come from two separate sources: an asset-backed securities (ABS) financing of \u20ac60 million from Macquarie Group<\/a> and a \u20ac25 million venture debt financing from the Spanish banking group BBVA. With the fresh capital, Roadsurfer plans to further expand its fleet of around 10,000 campers. The company also intends to Startup<\/a> to strengthen its presence in the European and North American markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new ABS agreement with the Macquarie Group increases the existing ABS structure to a total of \u20ac200 million. The capital will primarily be used to further expand the fleet and scale the operating business. Sarah Milne<\/strong>, Managing Director, Securitisations at Macquarie, says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u20ac25 million supplementary venture debt financing with BBVA will primarily support Roadsurfer's digital development. The funds will also be used for the company's overall growth. The agreement is part of the European Union's InvestEU program and the European Investment Fund, thus offering particularly favorable terms. Donatella Callegaris<\/strong>, Head of Venture & Growth Lending at BBVA in Europe, explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roadsurfer was founded in Munich in 2016 and has developed into one of the world's leading providers in the outdoor travel market with rental, subscription, and sales of campervans, as well as the Roadsurfer Spots parking platform. The startup currently operates over 90 locations in 16 countries \u2013 including Germany, the US, and Canada.
