Munich Startup<\/em>: What does SoreAlert do? What problem does it solve?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lorenz Gr\u00fcnerbel<\/em>: SoreAlert is the first to develop a method for personalized pressure ulcer prevention. Decubitus ulcers, also known as bedsores, are pressure sores that can develop in people with limited mobility if they do not move at the right moment or are repositioned by caregivers. The problem today is that the right time to reposition a patient cannot be determined, resulting in over 400,000 pressure ulcers developing annually in Germany. This causes significant suffering for patients and high costs for the healthcare system. SoreAlert's sensor patch continuously monitors the tissue condition of high-risk patients. Using modern sensors with AI analysis, our technology detects pressure ulcers before they become visible. This allows repositioning intervals to be personalized to the patient's needs and prevent wounds from developing.<\/p>\n\n\n

Lorenz Gr\u00fcnerbel<\/em>: The established prophylactic methods rely on complex and time-consuming manual examinations by nursing staff. These procedures are based on general routines and are not tailored to the individual needs of the patient. This is precisely where we come in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup<\/em>: What is your founding story?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lorenz Gr\u00fcnerbel<\/em>: We have our technology<\/a> already in multi-year research projects with the Technical University of Munich and the Fraunhofer EMFT (= Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Microsystems and Solid State Technologies<\/em>) developed and tested. We have now built a strong team and are determined to implement research transfer to create real added value for society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Challenge: Financing and regulation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Munich Startup<\/em>: What have been your biggest challenges so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lorenz Gr\u00fcnerbel<\/em>: Financing and regulation in the medical technology sector. Funding applications take a very long time to respond to. We have already visited accelerators to get help in the complex, regulated medical technology market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
