The technology is based on computer vision and artificial intelligence. The app uses the phone&#039;s cameras to detect barriers and dangerous situations and warns users with acoustic signals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"\/en\/startups\/smartais\/\">Startup<\/a> was founded in 2024 by Sascha Preget, Yamen Mohisn, Said Derbel, and Anika Watzka. Their vision: to improve the mobility of blind people. The app is intended to enable them to move more safely in public spaces. The start-up company received the <a href=\"https:\/\/mobilitaetspreis.de\/preistraegerinnen2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">German Mobility Prize<\/a> in the category \u201cDigital Transformation and AI\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sascha Preget<\/strong>, CEO of SmartAIs, explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&quot;I am convinced that artificial intelligence will drastically change the lives of the blind community in the coming years. We want to be part of this change.&quot;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SmartAIs plans to launch soon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Bayern Kapital is leading SmartAIs&#039;s first financing round. Private investors from the fields of artificial intelligence and augmented reality are also participating. The exact amount of the investment is not disclosed. The fresh capital will be used to further develop the app. Extensive user testing and the optimization of the AI models are planned.
