Qwello<\/a> offers cities a turnkey charging solution by providing all elements of the charging station infrastructure, including hardware and software development, installation, operation, and maintenance. The charging stations are also equipped with user-friendly features, such as icon-based user communication for universal use or options for contactless credit card or mobile payment. Billing, reservation, and location search are all handled via the associated app. With this approach, the Munich-based startup is already active in many European markets, including the UK, France, Spain, and Poland, and has established itself in the September secure financing of 65 million euros<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Successful in Europe-wide tender<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This concept also helped the Munich-based startup win a tender in Hamburg. The goal of the tender was to expand the city's existing charging infrastructure of 1,600 charging points as needed. As part of a Europe-wide public tender issued by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Innovation in March 2024, private operators had the opportunity to apply for one of five lots, each with 500 charging points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the award criteria relevant to the contract award, Qwello achieved the rating "outstanding" in two criteria and "good" in another, thus achieving first place in the overall assessment. This enabled Qwello to win its preferred contract lot. With the concession award of five lots for the construction and operation of 500 charging points each, the next step in expanding the charging infrastructure is now being taken. The construction of these 2,500 charging points is scheduled for completion by mid-2027, and they will then be operated for eight years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
