Serlo Education is a non-profit educational organization that enables students to learn at their own pace and realize their potential – regardless of their parents' financial situation. We develop the free learning platform serlo.org, which offers approximately 18,000 learning resources for school subjects from 5th grade to university, covering mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, as well as extracurricular subjects. Over one million people now use the platform for learning and teaching every month. All content is completely free, ad-free, and licensed under open licenses.
To achieve this, we bring together a community of dedicated educators who volunteer to create diverse, high-quality learning content and make it freely available online. The idea behind this is a new way of learning, where schools are appreciative and inspiring learning spaces and students can develop into empathetic, self-determined, and committed individuals.
Our diverse team of full-time and volunteer editors, project managers, software developers, and designers works toward this vision with the commitment of an NGO and the agile methods of a tech startup. We draw on role models in industry and the nonprofit sector and strive to contribute to the further development of common standards and practices in the nonprofit sector.
