reCup GmbH, founded in September 2016 by Fabian Eckert and Florian Pachaly, offers a simple, attractive and sustainable alternative to disposable packaging with the Germany-wide reusable deposit system RECUP and REBOWL.
The circular deposit system is based on reusable containers that are fully recyclable: RECUP for coffee-to-go cups and REBOWL for takeaway bowls. The reusable cups and bowls can be borrowed and returned against a deposit at over 13,000 distribution and return points across Germany, including cafés, restaurants, bakeries, kiosks, company restaurants, and gas stations.
The aim of the company, which has been recognized as a “Best Practice” by the German Environmental Aid Association and awarded the “Blue Angel” by the Federal Environment Ministry, is to make disposable packaging unnecessary, to further promote social awareness of packaging waste and to encourage people to rethink their general consumer behavior.
