We are Furtherium, a startup from Ismaning, and we are working to make the world a safer place. Previously, it was mainly experts from the German Armed Forces and the US military who were willing to discuss our ideas with us. But times have changed. Now we are increasingly receiving contact requests from research organizations, investors, and media outlets in Germany.
More and more people are realizing that the war in Ukraine and the Middle East is not a short-term phenomenon. Aerial threats are beginning to test the limits of existing defense systems. Robotic systems and AI for controlling drones in the air, on the surface, and underwater have already demonstrated that vulnerabilities exist virtually everywhere.
What we are focusing on
We are developing an AI-controlled air platform that is lighter than air and capable of carrying a high payload. Its aerodynamic properties and endurance enable it to continuously protect critical infrastructure, borders, and sea lanes for months – against all types of threats, including ballistic and cruise missiles, drones, manned aerial vehicles, and land- and sea-based attack systems.
Another of our projects helps overcome human cognitive limitations. It provides users with machine perception results from sensors inaccessible to humans (sight, hearing, radio frequency spectra), as well as opportunities for discreet communication and rapid decision-making. This technology is relevant not only for the military, but also for fire departments, emergency medical services, and police.
Dual-use
Potential applications range from defense, border protection, and maritime security to search and rescue operations, fighting large-scale forest and structural fires, evacuations from skyscrapers or mountainous regions, and disaster relief (floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, blizzards, industrial accidents). Further areas of application include the transport of heavy and oversized loads, high-altitude assembly (sky cranes), agriculture, scientific research (oceanography, meteorology, monitoring of animal migration and protection of rare species, supplying Antarctic missions and remote research stations), and numerous other industries.
