What it's about:
Advancing digitalization is dramatically increasing the pressure to innovate. A new and promising way to generate innovations and act quickly is through operating in ecosystems. The core characteristic of such a network is that it benefits every actor. But to truly realize these advantages, companies must find answers to several questions regarding organization, culture, and communication.
In this context, structural changes within organizations such as dual management systems, agile teams, and holographic structures are frequently discussed. These take into account the increasing speed of innovation and implementation and are geared to a constantly changing market and customer situation. Furthermore, in globally operating networks that do not stop at cultural and geographical barriers, questions arise not only regarding efficient management but also regarding networked innovation or comprehensive IP management. In addition, the establishment of new business models (e.g., licensing models instead of joint ventures or pay-per-use solutions) and operating in complex supply chains place new demands on organizational structures with external partners. Interdisciplinary, supra-regional collaboration models have been established in development-oriented companies for some time.
Using the example of the collaboration between Ness Digital Engineering, a digital innovation partner, and Kreisel Electric, a young Austrian company with a revolutionary battery technology, we illustrate how and under which premises such a network can operate and which instruments are playing an increasingly important role across the board.
