Meet the City – Digital Twin

Meet the City: Teams & innovative projects of the City of Munich – The Digital Twin as the heart of the future city of Munich

Solving urban challenges, but how? The digital twin of the state capital Munich is the digital heart of the future city of Munich. As a digital representation of the state capital, it serves as the basis for analyses, simulations, and what-if scenarios, making it an important building block for key future topics such as climate protection, mobility, and urban development.

At our “Meet the City” event series, Markus Mohl and Dr. Hany Abo El Wafa from the City of Munich will provide insights into the digital twin and the collaboration within the framework of Connected Urban Twins – a joint project with Hamburg and Leipzig.

During the event, you'll learn more about how the city's digital twin connects previously isolated solutions into a shared urban ecosystem, digitizing processes and creating spaces for innovation. Whether in transport planning or urban development, the digital twin can also be used to visualize and rethink citizen participation processes in advance.

For example, what could Lindwurmstraße look like with wide sidewalks, comfortable bike lanes in accordance with the Munich Cycling Initiative, and delivery zones for businesses? In the city's transport transition, the digital twin is an important tool for representing and simulating precisely this vision of the future.

After the content part, it is time to start talking, make contacts and discuss solutions for our livable city of the future.

As part of “Meet the City,” we at Munich Urban Colab regularly provide insights into new projects in the area surrounding the state capital of Munich and at the same time seek exchange with the Colab community, interested citizens, and anyone else interested in the livable city of the future.
