Innovation, sustainability & economy – circular economy as an accelerator for the implementation of the SDGs?

The state capital Munich, together with the DGVN and the DGVN state association Bavaria, invites you to an event about the potential of the circular economy for the UN Agenda 2030 and a sustainable and resilient economy at the Munich Urban Colab.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda are facing increasing pressure. At the same time, businesses are confronted with high energy prices, fragile supply chains, and geopolitical uncertainties.
The circular economy offers approaches to address these challenges. Its goal is to decouple prosperity and economic growth from the consumption of natural resources. Circular business models employed by companies include R-strategies such as reuse, repair, and reduce. These strategies aim to lower resource consumption and keep materials in the value chain for as long as possible.
Circular economy practices can make companies not only more sustainable, but also more economically successful and resilient. Many companies already see the potential of the circular economy to save materials and costs, strengthen environmental and climate protection, and increase their own resilience.
The circular economy can make a significant contribution to the implementation of the SDGs, particularly sustainable consumption and production (SDG 12). The state capital of Munich also considers it crucial for achieving its goal of climate neutrality by 2035.

WHAT AWAITS YOU?
We discuss with practitioners from business, city administration, and civil society the potential of the circular economy for companies and for sustainability. Which practical examples already demonstrate the benefits of the circular economy? What framework can policymakers create to support the efficient implementation of the circular economy concept in business? What influence can the circular economy have on the implementation of the SDGs – and where are its limits?
