With more than 7,500 employees and approximately 16,000 students, the Garching Research Campus in the north of Munich is one of the largest centers for science, research, and teaching in Germany. It boasts a unique concentration of scientific and technical research institutions: the largest campus of the Technical University of Munich, the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, institutes of the Max Planck Society, the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, the European Southern Observatory, and numerous other renowned institutes and companies.
Their fields of work range from basic research to the development of promising high-tech applications. And the Garching research site continues to grow: new institutes and companies are under construction and will enrich the professional diversity and collaboration between various disciplines on the site.
