The DLR Space Administration, on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology are organizing the cross-sector conference on 6 October 2016 “Earth observation as the infrastructure of the future – benefits for energy supply, insurance, construction and critical infrastructures”.
The aim is to demonstrate the application potential of satellite-based earth observation for different industries and to develop concrete approaches for commercial use in the workshops.
Franz Josef Pschierer, State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology, Dr. Gerd Gruppe, Executive Board Member of the DLR Space Administration, and Thomas Koch, Head of the Space Technologies Division, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, will introduce the conference.
Dr. Nicolaus Hanowski, Earth Observation Programmes at the European Space Agency (ESA), and Martin Ditter, Policy Officer at the European Commission, will present from a European perspective. Other speakers include high-ranking experts from the energy and insurance industries, the construction sector, and critical infrastructure.
The technology and solution-oriented workshops in the afternoon address the different application areas.
The conference is also the kick-off of the ideas and innovation competition starting in 2016 INNOspace Masters.
The conference is supported by the Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO), bavAIRia eV and the invest-in-bavaria agency of the Free State of Bavaria.
