Brave Care: Platform for period health

After failing to find alternatives to ibuprofen and other medications for period pain, Beatriz Fitzner founded her own company for period health. In this 7-question interview, she shares which products are already on the market and where Brave Care is headed.

Beatriz Fitzner, Brave Care: Brave Care is a platform for period health and has been selling its first product – a period cream for menstrual cramps – since May 23. We offer health-conscious women an effective and side-effect-free care product for a relaxed period. Menstrual cramps affect 9 out of 10 women every month.

Munich Startup: But that's been around for a long time!

Beatriz Fitzner: Nope, not without phytohormones or THC.

Looking for a side-effect-free alternative

Munich Startup: What is your founding story?

Beatriz Fitzner: I stopped taking the pill and started experiencing period pain. In search of everyday, side-effect-free alternatives to ibuprofen and herbal teas, I delved into natural medicine and mixed my own period cream in the kitchen. It worked, even for my friends, and that's how Brave Care was born.

Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Beatriz Fitzner: Product approval, everyday work and family life.

Munich Startup: Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years?

Beatriz Fitzner: In one year: Offer more period health products in the shop, build a solid community, and advance period health education. Find a co-founder! Feel free to email us at beatriz@brave-care.com.

In five years: First medical device.

More fempreneur energy for Munich

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?

Beatriz Fitzner: What the Femhealth-bubble, very poorly. That's why we want to launch our own events for this area, because capital and media presence are very strong in Munich, and the topic is extremely relevant. Apart from that, we like that the events are well organized in Munich; the LMU and TU are strong driving forces and open to dialogue. But we need more fempreneur energy in Munich!

Munich Startup: Risk or security?

Beatriz Fitzner: Risk.
