Qwello opens up new markets

The e-mobility startup Qwello offers cities turnkey charging solutions. The Munich-based startup is already operating in many European markets with this approach. The company is now taking further expansion steps with the UK, France, and Poland.

Qwello already operates charging infrastructure in several German and European cities and regions by entering into municipal partnerships through public concession contracts and offering both charging infrastructure and charging services. At the end of last year, the Munich-based startup announced that it, together with Renewable energy provider Acciona Energía establishes a joint ventureto set up public charging points in Spanish cities. According to the company, the first charging points have now been installed in the suburbs of Madrid.

Qwello now also available in Great Britain, Poland and France

With Great Britain, Poland, and France, Qwello is now venturing into new markets. The development of charging infrastructure within the 'Square Mile,' the heart of the City of London, is particularly pleasing to Qwello UK's Managing Director, Martin Hale:

"We are very proud to have been selected in the tender process to upgrade the charging stations at these prestigious locations with the same solutions deployed in other European cities such as Stockholm, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Madrid. This builds on our future contracts in the UK, where we won based on our core principles of putting the user first, ensuring high uptime, exceeding accessibility standards, and creating local social value."

In London, plans are underway to deploy a specially developed charging station product that combines the advantages of the classic Qwello charging station in a smaller format. According to the Munich-based startup, these stations are already in use in Berlin.

Vision for all of Europe

Simultaneously with the UK market entry, Qwello's charging infrastructure was launched in Poland, in the Katowice region, and on the French Mediterranean coast near Marseille. Qwello founder Henrik Thiele says:

"Qwello's vision has always been to offer a turnkey charging infrastructure solution for the whole of Europe, enabling cities and municipalities of all sizes to simplify their transition to electric mobility – with the goal of supporting the achievement of our shared, ambitious, but urgently needed climate goals through private investment. We are therefore delighted to now be able to contribute to this goal in the UK, France, and Poland."

Turnkey charging solution

Qwello offers cities a turnkey charging solutionby providing all elements of the charging station infrastructure, including hardware and software development, installation, operation, and maintenance. The charging stations are also equipped with user-friendly features, such as icon-based user communication for universal use, options for contactless credit card or mobile payment, and an integrated cable with a Type 2 plug and a Type 2 socket for users who prefer to use their own cable. The accompanying app handles billing, reservations, and location searches.
