Although only three out of ten companies in Germany (29 percent) cooperate with tech startups, 91 percent of them say that their expectations of the collaboration have been met. For 42 percent, they have been somewhat met, for 39 percent, they have been completely met, and for ten percent, they have even been exceeded. Only two percent said Bitkom-survey that their expectations were not met at all.
94 percent felt the Corporate culture of startups as inspiring; 84 percent were able to improve their technological expertise, 55 percent gained new customers and opened up markets. 34 percent said they improved their product through the collaboration, and 24 percent poached employees from the startup.
Startups in cooperation reliably
Common misconceptions about startups have also proven unfounded in practice: 70 percent of respondents say they are reliable in their collaborations. Furthermore, 63 percent believe that the partners complemented each other very well due to their different strengths and weaknesses.
Only three in ten companies (29 percent) do not want to cooperate with startups again. The two-thirds of companies (67 percent) that have not yet cooperated with startups cite a lack of contact with startups (51 percent) or the budget (47 percent) as the main reasons. 44 percent stated that they do not have the time to cooperate with young companies (44 percent). Around a third have no specific project (35 percent) or view startups as competitors rather than partners (32 percent). A quarter (23 percent) generally see no added value in a collaboration.
