BMW i Ventures is a Silicon Valley-based corporate venture capital fund (CVC) of the BMW Group. The company is distinguished by its flair for innovation, thanks to the expertise of the BMW Group. BMW i Ventures is one of the most relevant venture capitalists in the automotive sector.

Since 2011, BMW i Ventures has been supporting disruptive and rapidly scaling startups in the automotive sector with a strong network of experienced partners. The fund focuses on hardware and software solutions from young companies in the transportation, manufacturing, and supply chain industries. The fund also has a strong focus on sustainable solutions (Boston Metal and Natural Fiber Welding) and has already participated in the success stories of over 60 companies (including Chargepoint (IPO), Xometry (IPO), Turntide, Motorway, and Chargemaster).

The BMW i Ventures portfolio currently includes 11 unicorns (including Carbon, Tekion, and Carlority) and manages a total fund volume of approximately $900 million. Marcus Behrendt is the dual leadership team, with Kasper Sage as Managing Partner. The company is headquartered in Mountain View, Silicon Valley, and also has offices in San Francisco and Munich.
