Ariadne Maps closes Series A with 6.5 million euros

Munich-based proptech startup Ariadne Maps has successfully completed its Series A financing round, raising €6.5 million ($7 million) from Athens-based VC Marathon Ventures.

Ariadne Maps' technology uses anonymous signals emitted by smartphones to track the flow of people across a large area. the startup founded in 2019 Detailed analyses of visitor numbers, from trends to heat maps to visitor flows. This data should then make it possible, for example, to minimize queues or better plan staff deployment. It should also enable targeted communication with visitors.

By using anonymous signals, the solution is compliant with GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other data protection regulations. According to the company, Ariadne Maps' customers include "a well-known Swedish furniture retailer, a top property manager in Germany, the most decorated airport in Asia, and a similarly prestigious one in the US."

Ariadne Maps must meet increased demand

With the €6.5 million it has now raised, the startup aims to further expand its position as a technology leader in the industry and serve the rapidly growing demand from various industries and regions. Ariadne Maps' target markets include retail, transportation, the hotel and restaurant industry, and public administration.

The existing investor Marathon Ventures from Athens is solely responsible for the financing round. The company explains in a press release:

"Co-founders Georgios Pipelidis, Nikos Tsiamitros, and their team have brought a revolutionary offering to a huge market. We are continually amazed by the reception it receives and inspired by the team's tireless work. It's a rare decision for us to lead another round of funding and help Ariadne move forward."

Ariadne Maps raised €2 million in its seed round, which was also led by Marathon Ventures and closed in October 2021. Other investors included EIT Digital, Singapore-based Sasya Terra, and angel investor Raoul Oberman.
