Funding opportunities from the European Space Agency ESA
The agricultural sector faces many challenges. Not only the rising demand for food, but also factors such as pandemics, geopolitical decisions, and climate change have a major impact on agriculture. To better address these problems, the sector must undergo a digital transformation, supported by technologies for improved connectivity.
Against this backdrop, the European Space Agency (ESA) is planning a new thematic call for proposals aimed at the agricultural sector: "Connected Agriculture." The goal is to make agriculture more sustainable from an economic, social, and environmental perspective. This can be achieved through the development of new digital solutions that can increase farm efficiency and improve production. Examples include new services for remote livestock monitoring, remote maintenance of agricultural equipment, novel farm management and automation systems, and services for monitoring food origins.
The European Space Agency (ESA) offers support and funding to companies through its Business Applications Programme to promote the development of applications and services that integrate space technologies and data to develop commercially viable solutions related to 'Connected Agriculture'. The 'Connected Agriculture' Kick-Start Activity will be presented at the event, as will the application process. Furthermore:
- the ESA Business Applications Programme will be presented,
- discussed support options from the German ESA Business Applications Ambassador,
- explains the roles of the partners involved in the ESA BA programme,
- the German ESA Space Solutions Partners, the ESA BIC and the INNOspace network Space2Agriculture presented and
- Opportunities to exchange ideas with other participants are offered.
