Presize acquisition by Facebook now official

Back in April, there were reports that Facebook parent company Meta had acquired the Munich-based startup Presize – however, both companies remained silent on the matter. Now, however, the acquisition has been confirmed.

Presize has developed a digital size advisor for online shops that measures clothing measurements based on the user's body rotation in front of the smartphone camera. The solution is intended to improve the fit of clothing sold online and thus reduce the number of returns. These represent a huge cost for the industry. According to the company, the Munich company 55 percent more accurate than the competition, the net sales of its customers are expected to increase by around 10 percent through the use of the software.

With their solution, the founders Leon Szeli and Tomislav Tomov appeared on the Vox founder show in 2020 “The Lion’s Den” and were able to convince investor Carsten Maschmeyer to get involved. Maschmeyer received 15 percent of the company's shares for €650,000. Following the broadcast, Presize expanded the financing round to a total of almost €2 million.

“It was an incredible roller coaster ride”

In April, startup scenethat Meta has acquired 100 percent of the startup, according to an entry in the commercial register. However, there was no official confirmation. The two founders have now made this clear via LinkedIn. Among other things, they also explained that the Presize solution is now only available within the Meta ecosystem.

The two founders, along with the third co-founder, Awais Shafique, and some of the Presize employees, are now part of Meta's fashion team. Their headquarters will remain in Munich.
