Baystartup's 2022 Business Plan Competition has been decided: Three teams prevailed against 71 other participating teams from across southern Bavaria in yesterday's awards ceremony in the final competition phase. The three winning teams will receive prizes totaling €30,000. First place went to the medtech startup Dymium, which is developing a minimally invasive treatment method for the residue-free removal of kidney stones. Using magnetic separation technology, the company aims to significantly reduce the high recurrence rate of over 30 percent.
“The best conditions for a successful start even in times of crisis”
Nimmsta takes second place with its Logistics Device HS 50. By combining a smart watch, industrial scanner, and e-paper display, efficiency increases of over 50 percent in intralogistics processes are to be achieved.
Reverion, ranked third, has developed a flexible technology for generating electricity from biogas with highly efficient efficiency and a reversible operating mode (power-to-gas). The founding team is thus tapping into new optimization potential in the biogas market.
Carsten Rudolph, Managing Director of Baystartup, says:
"Many of the founding teams came from the life sciences and technology sectors and are developing new technologies from universities. The nominees and winners in this year's competition are characterized by a high level of maturity and technical quality. They have the best prerequisites for a successful launch, even in times of crisis."
The Munich Business Plan Competition has already produced winners such as Fazua, Egym or Quantum Systems that are now considered renowned startups. The focus has always been on sharpening business ideas through expert feedback and preparing young founding teams for challenges in the market environment and with financing.
Expanded network and valuable expert feedback
Florian Ebel, co-founder of Dymium, says about his company's participation in the Munich Business Plan Competition:
"We participated in all three phases of the competition. With the help of Baystartup, we were able to expand our network, gather valuable expert feedback, and thus continuously develop ourselves."
Hans Peter Göttler, Deputy Chairman of the Board of LfA Förderbank Bayern, sponsoring partner of the competition, congratulates the winners:
"The founding teams in this year's competition presented impressive and innovative business ideas. I warmly congratulate the winners! I'm very excited to see their next entrepreneurial steps. Many startups from past competitions are now successful companies."
The following startups were also nominated in the final:
- 2NA Fish enables the simple, cost-effective, and robust analysis of gene activity in a spatial context. The platform technology is intended to enable the development of in vitro diagnostics for cancer therapy decisions that quantify gene activity patterns (RNA expression) in the spatial tissue context.
- Hyperdrives develops power-dense and highly integrated electric drive systems. The key to these compact and efficient electric motors is cooling – this occurs directly through the winding rather than through the housing.
- Qlibri builds and markets a novel microscope based on quantum optics technology. This enables researchers and developers in nano and quantum technology to visualize extremely small objects for the first time.
- Sqior Medical is developing a smartphone-based assistance system that provides clinicians with information, simplifies clinical tasks, and automates administrative processes. For example, communication and control surrounding the perioperative process can be automated.
- Vestigas enables the digital processing of delivery documents in building materials logistics through a newly developed certification algorithm, which should result in significant savings for all parties involved in the process (suppliers, freight forwarders and construction companies).
