Open Data Day Hackathon

March 5, 2016 is Open Data Day – worldwide. Open Data Day is a community event, which means everyone is welcome to participate and organize an event. This year, the state capital of Munich is once again participating with a hackathon.

The E- and Open Government team of the City of Munich is organizing this year’s Munich Open Data Day together with Code for Munich – an association of Munich programmers, designers, journalists and interested parties.

The aim of the day is to raise awareness of open data and to demonstrate the potential of open data. The goal is to work together to process data in such a way that it creates added value for Munich residents and visitors to the city. The focus will be on projects addressing social issues. The first part of the day will feature a keynote speech, followed by workshops and sessions on topics suggested by the participants themselves.

The topics planned so far

So far, we are planning the following sessions and are trying to get one or two of the people responsible for the topic to act as speakers and session leaders:

  • Smart City
  • Munich rent index
  • Data visualization
  • Open Data Portal of the City of Munich
  • CKAN
  • Toilet app
  • Refugee app
  • Open Innovation

We are looking for you if you want to work with open data

It would be great to exchange ideas with as many people as possible, experiment, develop applications and visualizations and, above all, have fun.
