The Bavarian Climate Protection Prize, initiated by the Bavarian State Government, is intended to recognize outstanding achievements in Protecting the climate or adapting to the impacts of climate protection. Initiatives with a coherent overall concept will be honored. The following criteria, among others, will be taken into account in the selection:
- originality
- innovation
- Transferability to third parties
- sustainability
- continuity
- Transparency regarding project development, implementation and results
The winners of the competition are selected by an independent jury.
Proposals possible until April 11
Anyone can nominate companies and committed individuals with a connection to Bavaria for participation in the competition until April 11, 2022. The nominated participants must have their permanent residence or company headquarters in Bavaria, or be committed to climate protection or adaptation in Bavaria. The initiative should already be launched and show initial results. Completed projects should still be effective today. Companies, associations, municipalities, or individuals can online via a suggestion form be nominated. This nomination includes a brief description of why the nominees should receive the award. Self-nomination is not permitted.
If the proposal meets the participation criteria, the State Agency for Energy and Climate Protection (LENK) will contact the nominated individual or company by email or mail, requesting them to complete an online application form. The nominated individual or company will only participate in the competition if they submit the application form in full and on time.
Prize endowed with 15,000 euros
The Bavarian Climate Protection Prize is endowed with a total of 15,000 euros, which will be distributed among the winning projects. The winners will also receive a prize sculpture, and an image film about the award-winning initiative will be produced, which the award winners can use for their own projects.
