Second-hand search engine Catchys acquired by Glami

The fashion search engine Glami has acquired Catchys. The Munich-based startup specializes in finding secondhand clothing. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Catchys set itself the goal of radically simplifying the search for second-hand clothing. With the Munich-based startup's search engine, used items can be found as easily as new clothes. With its concept, Catchys secured the Munich Startup Award at Bits & Pretzels. The company was founded in 2015 by Franzi Majer and Magdalena Oehl. Franzi Majer says:

"Joining forces with Glami is the best strategic move we could have ever dreamed of. With over 15 million products, Glami attracts more than 30 million visitors a month across 17 markets. By integrating our secondhand business into their vast network, the Catchys story, in which we have invested heavily over the past six years, can continue on a much larger scale. While we as founders have always believed that Catchys is the future of fashion, it is incredibly fulfilling to see that a major player like Glami also believes in our vision."

The second founder Magdalena Oehl says:

"We are thrilled to have such great partners like Glami and their fund, Milton VC, on board. The team shares our values and vision, and the timing couldn't have been better."

Catchys has “built up unique expertise for this very specific market over the past few years”

Glami has so far focused on new fashion. The acquisition of Catchys is intended to be a first step toward expanding its existing portfolio to include secondhand fashion. Michal Jirák, Founding Partner at Milton VC and Board Member of Glami, says:

"We've known the management team for three years and have always followed their success story. The vintage online market is an important part of our long-term strategy, and Franzi and Magdalena have built unique expertise in this very specific market over the past few years. Combined with our strong customer base and our technical and financial background, we see great potential to build on what they have started."
