27.4 million euros for Blickfeld

Blickfeld announces the expansion of its Series A financing to €27.4 million (USD31 million). New Future Capital (NFC), a private equity firm primarily focused on growth capital in Asia, North America, and Europe, has been added as a new investor. All existing investors, including Bayern Kapital, Continental, Fluxunit – ams Osram Ventures, High-Tech Gründerfonds, Tengelmann Ventures, and UVC Partners, also participated in the round.

Founded in 2017 by Mathias Müller, Florian Petit, and Rolf Wojtech, Blickfeld develops and produces LiDAR sensors and perception software. These solutions provide high-resolution three-dimensional environmental information and enable numerous applications ranging from autonomous transportation and mobility to smart cities, industrial applications, and security. With the current funding extension, Blickfeld plans to further develop sensors and software to further advance the reliable capture and use of 3D data.

Since the last financing The Munich-based company was able to launch the Cube 1 and Cube Range 1 3D LiDAR sensors for industrial applications in series production. In addition, the company has rolled out several large-scale implementation projects, such as the recording and analysis of passenger flows at airports and the volume measurement of bulk materials in product warehouses.

New offices in Asia and the USA

In addition to the company's current distribution partners in 13 countries, including Germany, Canada, China, and Japan, the new financing round will support the opening of offices in the US and Asia, thus furthering Blickfeld's international presence. The new offices will serve to expand an integrator network to make products available for applications worldwide faster and in larger quantities, and to meet demand in the key US and Asian markets. In addition to growth in new markets, Blickfeld also plans to expand its workforce, with a focus on the sales team.

In early 2022, Blickfeld also plans to expand its product range with new perception software with functions such as object detection, classification, tracking, and counting. Application areas include industry, smart traffic, security, drones, and crowd analytics.
