Still Too few women start businessesWomen TechEU is a new EU funding program designed to support women-led deep-tech startups and promote their development into future deep-tech champions. The project is part of the new EU research program Horizon Europe and offers financial support for women-led startups with grants of €75,000, as well as coaching and mentoring through the EIC program "Women's Leadership„.
The EIC Accelerator program also targets women-led startups, but the new Women TechEU program provides support in the earlier, formative phase of companies to increase the number of women founding their own startups.
Call for applications runs until 10 November
Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, said of the new program:
"Through Women TechEU, we aim to increase the number of women-led startups and create a fairer and more prosperous European deep tech ecosystem. We believe that today's support for female deep tech founders will increase their chances of success and strengthen the entire European innovation ecosystem by attracting more female talent."
Up to 50 promising deep-tech startups from EU Member States and associated countries will receive funding through the first Women TechEU pilot call, which ends on 10 November 2021.
