Shopping at the supermarket via smartphone, and within 10 minutes, the courier is at your door with the ordered goods – urban express delivery services like Gorillas or Flink are one of the hottest topics in the startup scene. To reach customers so quickly, the suppliers rely on small department stores with as much flexible storage space as possible in central locations. The Munich-based Startup Noyes Technologies is developing an automated solution for precisely this problem. Lead investor Vsquared Ventures, along with 468 Capital and Abacon Capital, apparently see great potential in these mini-warehouses and are investing €3.2 million in their further development. The capital will also be used to grow the team and expand into other industries such as e-commerce, retail, parcel services, and industrial applications.
Noyes Technologies enables automated storage in the smallest of spaces
The two founders, Marco Prüglmeier (49) and Aaron Spiegelburg (43), previously worked for many years at BMW: mechanical engineer Prüglmeier was responsible for various aspects of logistics for 20 years, while industrial engineer Aaron Spiegelburg was responsible for finance and controlling issues for 18 years.
After decades of working at the intersection of logistics and innovation, we saw the need for a new approach to automated warehousing that is simultaneously ultra-dense, highly flexible, and easily adaptable to the needs of today's customers. This is where we come in. Noyes Technologies enables intelligent and cost-effective nano-warehouses that are fully automated and deliver significant cost savings."
says Aaron SpiegelburgA stored product should be able to be retrieved automatically in just five to ten seconds. 2,000 products can be stored in a 30-square-meter space with a 2-meter ceiling height. The solution allows stores to be used as warehouses. The storage of refrigerated and frozen goods is also possible. Both software updates and capacity expansion can be carried out during ongoing operations.
Benedict von Schoeler, General Partner at Vsquared Ventures says:
"Quick commerce is one of the hottest topics right now, and there's a demand for technologies that enable this business model and make it profitable. Noyes Technologies does just that. We believe the technology, combined with Aaron and Marco's decades of experience, will revolutionize the market. We're excited to be part of this journey."
