Another municipal shop is now available to the Munich Cultural and Creative industries Available: In May, "Greenstyle the Store" brought the topic of sustainable fashion directly to City Hall. From here, Greenstyle founders Mirjam and Florens Smend aim to bring visibility to sustainable fashion labels, creative concepts, and innovative formats, driving change in the fashion industry. Until December 2021, sustainable fashion companies from the Greenstyle community will present their collections and offer them for sale here on a monthly rotation.
The launch will feature 13 mostly regional brands, whose creators will be on-site regularly and personally communicate the philosophy behind their brands. The offering is rounded out by organic beauty and hand-picked secondhand pieces. Under the motto "It's more than a store," the store will become a hub as soon as the incidence rates and regulations allow: lectures, workshops, and numerous events on the topic of sustainable fashion will be organized by Greenstyle and the community.
More visibility for young fashion designers
The interim use is being facilitated by the Referat für Arbeit und Wirtschaft and the Municipal Department, and is being implemented and supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Competence Team of the City of Munich. The Minister for Labor and Economic Affairs Clemens Baumgärtner is pleased that a shop with sustainably produced fashion has found space in the town hall:
"With our Munich Fashion Prize, we have been increasing the visibility of young fashion designers in Munich since 2018. That's why the Greenstyle store in the town hall is in exactly the right place. We are delighted about this successful collaboration, which allows visitors to experience the many facets of sustainable fashion and its creators in the design city of Munich."
Busy city center
Municipal Officer Kristina Frank explains:
"Greenstyle the Store is already the fifth store that we have made available for temporary use in such a central location, in close collaboration with the Cultural and Creative Industries Competence Team. This not only avoids vacancies, but also brings new, innovative retail concepts from a wide range of fields, such as design, art, music, and broadcasting, into the spotlight. This gives them the visibility they deserve. This benefits the companies themselves, but also the surrounding businesses, because it revitalizes the city center."
Greenstyle the Store is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The store is located directly in the row of shops in the town hall, accessible via Dienerstraße, opposite the Beck department store.
