Government adjusts bridging aid III

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) have once again expanded and extended the bridging aid programs. Startups also benefit from the changes.

To the Changes The Bridging Aid III includes, among other things, an increase in subsidies. Companies that have suffered a drop in sales of more than 50 percent in at least three months since November 2020 can now receive an equity subsidy amounting to 60 percent of fixed costs. Previously, this was only 40 percent of fixed costs. Furthermore, from now on, 100 percent will be reimbursed if the drop in sales exceeds 70 percent.

In addition, the eligibility criteria have been expanded: From now on, startups founded before October 31, 2020, will also receive support. Previously, the founding deadline was April 30, 2020.

In addition, it is now possible to specify alternative comparison periods. Previously, the previous year's month had to be used to determine the drop in sales during the coronavirus period. However, it is now possible to use alternative comparison periods in 2019 "under exceptional operational circumstances."

Extension of Bridging Aid III

The Federal Government has also decided to extend the bridging aid for affected companies and self-employed persons until September 30, 2021, as Bridging Aid III Plus, due to the corona-related closures and restrictions that continue to apply in some sectors.

Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger welcomes this decision:

"Some sectors will continue to need government aid in the coming months until the economy has fully recovered. However, I am convinced that we will need targeted economic aid not just until September, but also until December."

All information about the bridging aid is available online at the Website of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.
