Successful financing round for Delicious Data

The AI startup Delicious Data successfully completes a financing round. In addition to the existing shareholders, Übermorgen Ventures and business angel Gian Reto à Porta will also be joining the investor base.

The Munich startup Delicious Data aims to combat food waste with machine learning and algorithms. Its software-as-a-service solution is designed to help restaurateurs better plan their purchases. Using deep learning algorithms, the software analyzes historical customer data and combines it with other external factors to make precise predictions for the future. With this approach, Delicious Data has now won over another round of investors following its initial seed funding in 2019. In addition to the existing group of shareholders, Übermorgen Ventures and business angel Gian Reto à Porta will also be on board in the future. The amount of the investment was not disclosed.

The Delicious Data software will now also be used in the bakery market as a solution to combat food waste. According to the company, a collaboration with one of Bavaria's largest bakeries is already in place for this purpose.

"We are thrilled: Our new partners share Delicious Data's values and vision. Together, we now want to reduce even more food waste and CO2 emissions in bakeries,"

says co-founder Valentin Belser.

Actively reduce food waste

"From the very beginning, we have believed in Delicious Data's solution to positively impact sustainability across the entire food sector. By expanding to the bakery market, the solution is available to another industry, alongside catering and hospitality, to actively reduce food waste,"

so Clarissa Käfer, Angel investor and managing director in the Käfer Group.

Awarded the “Too Good for the Bin” prize

Delicious Data has been offering its forecasting solution for the catering and hospitality industries since 2019. In the middle of last year, the startup received the Federal Prize 2020 “Too good for the bin”.

"Delicious Data uses the opportunities of artificial intelligence to avoid overproduction in cafeteria operations. This should become the standard,"

said Julia Klöckner, Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, at the digital awards ceremony.
