The Bavarian Digital Prize is seeking ideas for greater digital participation. These could include computer consultations for seniors, a reading app for the visually impaired, or barrier-free internet offerings. Existing barriers can often be reduced or, ideally, eliminated using simple, digital tools. Therefore, the Bavarian Ministry of Digital Affairs is seeking projects specifically for this purpose. The winners will be honored with the Bavarian Digital Prize 'b.digital' in the spring.
Digital Minister Judith Gerlach explained:
"In our increasingly digital world, we still have many barriers to break down and divides to close. Digital participation is therefore one of the priorities of the Bavarian Ministry for Digital and the key theme for 2021. And it is also the motto of the new digital award b.digital. We are looking for clever digital ideas that create access and participation for as many people as possible."
What is important about the Bavarian Digital Prize?
Startups can submit their solutions until February 28. Other ideas and projects from volunteers or small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are also welcome to participate in the Bavarian Digital Prize. The main thing is that the ideas fit the motto 'digital Participation' and there is a residence in Bavaria. The following criteria are taken into account in the assessment:
- Innovation
- Customer benefit
- Feasibility
- Market potential
- Scalability
There is no prize money. However, the winning teams benefit from non-cash prizes and networking opportunities.
The deadline to participate in the Bavarian Digital Prize is February 28, 2021. Detailed terms and conditions can be found here.
