'Flixbus Rent': Green school buses

With its coach division 'Flixbus Mieten', the Munich-based mobility company aims to enter the school transport market. The goal: to ease the burden on school bus traffic during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Munich companies Through its "Flixbus Rental" division, Flixbus has around 120 buses from its partner transport companies available between January and March to transport students. Public transport companies in Germany are increasingly reaching their limits when it comes to transporting students to school, according to the company. Even under normal circumstances, students are crowded together in the aisles of the buses, barely having enough space to fit inside.

The coach division 'Flixbus Rentals' is available to support schools in order to ease the situation and ensure more distance during Corona times.

'Flixbus Rent' already in use as a school bus

“We and our bus partners are ready to support school transport throughout Germany,”

so Marc Müller, Head of 'Flixbus Rentals'.

“No child should have to stand tightly packed on the bus at the start of school.”

Coaches from the Munich-based company have been in service with Neubrandenburg's public transport system since December 7, bolstering school transport. Each bus provides up to 75 seats for students. The company says it is already in talks with state governments about expanding the program.

Flixbus and its train division Flixtrain transported approximately 30 million passengers worldwide last year. This represents a halving of passenger numbers compared to 2019. From mid-March to the end of May and from the beginning of November, the company had to suspend operations almost completely.
