Usercentrics offers a Consent Management Platform (CMP) that helps companies and website operators technically obtain, manage, and document their visitors' consent for audit purposes. This is important because, according to the EU-wide General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), user consent is in most cases the legal basis for the use of web technologies for marketing and advertising purposes.
"Designing a marketing strategy that complies with data protection regulations presents many companies with a major challenge. AI and machine learning models require granular data, which in turn requires user consent. This consent must be granular, informed, obtained in advance, and documented,"
explained Mischa Rürup, CEO and founder of Usercentrics.
"With the GDPR, we have created an export hit in Europe that is now being imitated worldwide. Therefore, Usercentrics also claims to be Europe's export hit in the field of consent management worldwide,"
leads Lukas Bennemann, Partner at Alstin CapitalThe startup plans to use the fresh capital for its global expansion strategy. The next goal is US expansion, which the new investor, Full In Partners, will also support. Usercentrics already offers a solution for the California data protection law CCPA.
"In the US, data protection is a matter for individual states, which makes implementation significantly more complex than in Europe. We believe that Usercentrics's flexible and adaptable solution is exactly what the US market needs and look forward to working with them."
commented Elodie Dupuy, Founder and Managing Director at Full In Partners.
Strong growth of Usercentrics
Within the last 12 months, Usercentrics has quadrupled its revenue and now employs nearly 100 people, including over 50 developers. Its customers include the Munich now companies such as Daimler Global, Porsche and Zalando. Ulrich Bergmoser, Managing Director at the existing investor Reimann Investors, commented:
"The company has impressively demonstrated the scalability of its Consent Management Platform in Europe. Thanks to its strategic approach, we believe Usercentrics can be one of the few European players to win the important US market. We are pleased to support the company in achieving this milestone."
