Stabl Energy receives support: Energie 360°'s Smart Energy Innovation Fund, which focuses on startups in the cleantech, energy, smart cities, and mobility sectors, is now also investing in the Munich-based startup. The size of the investment was not disclosed.
The technology developed by Stabl Energy can make battery storage more efficient, safer, and more cost-effective through modular and dynamic inverters. The core principle of the technology is to split high-voltage battery packs into many smaller modules, each equipped with a small inverter, and thus create a dynamic modular battery system. This concept is intended to guarantee very high reliability and improve safety, both during operation and installation.
Potential to sustainably change the battery storage market
Ruth Happersberger, Chair of the Smart Energy Innovation Fund and member of the management team at Energie 360°, is convinced:
"Stabl Energy's inverter system offers solutions to many of the key challenges facing today's battery storage systems. This innovative inverter system has the potential to sustainably transform the battery storage market and thereby accelerate the energy transition. Stabl thus perfectly complements the Innovation Fund's existing portfolio."
Technology also suitable for second-life batteries
Stabl Energy's technology also aims to make it possible to reuse discarded electric car batteries. Modular inverters allow battery modules from electric vehicles to be converted into stationary batteries. Stabl's inverters, according to the company, are not affected by the sometimes very different residual capacities of battery modules, as the maximum usable capacity of all modules can be increased, unlike with a centralized inverter.
Metin Zerman, Investment Manager of the Smart Energy Innovation Fund of Energie 360°, says:
"Stabl's technology also makes battery storage financially attractive for many applications. The flexibility and combination of different battery modules in a battery storage system—as well as the easy reuse of second-life batteries—make this concept extremely exciting."
